Frequently Asked Questions

Starfocus is a space-themed focus timer for iOS. Each Pomodoro-style focus session "intercepts" a real star drawn from the ATHYG v3.3 star catalog. Complete sessions to build your personal collection of discovered stars, explore them on an interactive AR star map, and track your focus journey.

When you start a focus session, a star is randomly selected from the catalog. Complete the session to add it to your discoveries. Each star is a real astronomical object with actual coordinates, magnitude, spectral type, and constellation data. You can view your intercepted stars on the 3D star map or browse them in the Discoveries tab.

No. The entire star catalog is bundled with the app — focus sessions and star discovery work completely offline. An internet connection is only needed if you enable iCloud sync to share data across devices.

Starfocus Pro unlocks dim stars beyond naked-eye visibility (magnitude > 4.5), additional custom tags beyond the 5 presets, and iCloud sync for cross-device data. All core features — the Pomodoro timer, star interception, AR star map, and session history — are free.

Yes. The core experience is completely free — focus timer, star discovery, AR star map, session history, and the Discoveries collection. Starfocus Pro is an optional upgrade for users who want deeper catalog access, more tags, and iCloud sync.

Yes. The star map uses your GPS location (or manually entered coordinates) to display stars as they appear from your position on Earth. Celestial rotation is applied in real time, and solar system bodies (Sun, Moon, planets) are shown at their current positions.
